Have you noticed that it seems to happen more and more when something bugs you enough to ruin your day?
It’s because it has your attention and, as the saying goes, “where attention goes, energy flows”.
Something that used to aggravate me was being stuck hearing a conversation peppered with more profanity than kernels on an ear of corn.
I often felt like asking if they knew more than 15 words but I knew that wouldn’t solve anything.
One day it got so annoying that I flipped a mental switch and every word I chose not to hear was transformed into a beautiful daisy.
Things became funny when I heard and saw this…
"So last night I downed 6 beers, I mean, What the Daisy and the Daisy-ing cheeseburgers tasted like Daisy, they were so Daisy-ing bad I just thought Daisy, why not get a Daisy-ing pizza...blah, blah, blabbity, blab Daisy....give a Daisy...ugh...Daisy...what ya gonna do..."
And by the time the conversation was over there was a virtual mountain of daisies covering that person - and I, relaxed and unaffected.
This simple shift in thinking puts you in charge of how you feel and that's powerful.
